The Consulate General of Italy in SF has asked that we participate in the third annual Week of Italian Cuisine by offering a special menu inspired by Puglia. We've decided to use twenty percent of the sales from this week's special menu to purchase gift cards for those affected by the recent fires.
Just over a year ago, we lost our home in the Napa wildfires. Scores of friends, regulars and strangers came to Riva in the days, weeks and months following the
fire to show their love and support. The kindness we experienced as a family far outweighed our loss. This past Thursday, as the smoke from Butte County blanketed our home and our restaurant, news spread that a college student from Napa, Alaina Housley, was a victim in the Thousand Oaks tragedy. She was also someone who was very kind to our daughter last year. We’ve been searching for a way to repay the kindness shown to us by so many after losing our home and we can’t imagine a better time than now.
Our desire is to pair each gift card with a family who lost their home last year so those suffering now will have not only financial help, but a personal resource who can offer perspective and advice along the difficult path that lies ahead. Alaina’s family is asking for us to honor her life by being present to each other, loving and kind. May we all unite together in these greatest of endeavors.
Love and thanks,
Massi and Jen Boldrini
